An intensifying area of low pressure across Illinois and southern Lake Michigan brought copious amounts of snow and liquid precipitation, strong damaging winds, and thunderstorms. The storm left nearly 100,000 people across the state without power near the height of the storm. On the Bay of Green Bay, the water level rose over 2 feet due to the strong northeast winds funneling down the bay.

One year ago today: No rest for the weary. Severe thunderstorms (July 19,2019) brought widespread wind damage to northern WI. Just 12 hours later (July 20,2019), another round of severe thunderstorms moved across central and east-central Wisconsin with wind gusts of 60 to 90 mph and six tornadoes. An outflow boundary from the storms from the previous evening was the focus for brief tornadoes.
