A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. The NWS Climate Prediction Center has issued the winter outlook (Dec-Feb) for 2018-19. The expected weak El Niño conditions will favor above normal temperatures across Wisconsin and near or below normal precipitation across the northeast half of the state.
Even during a warmer-than-average winter, periods of cold temperatures and snowfall are still likely to occur.
