Extremely Dangerous Heat in the Western U.S. through Saturday; Heat Spreads East into Next Week

Extremely dangerous heat continues in the Western U.S. through Saturday with widespread Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories. Hazardous heat will expand over much of the central and eastern U.S. late this weekend into next week. The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
