Major Winter Storm to Impact the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast; Inclement Weather in the Pacific Northwest

A major winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow, strong winds, and coastal flooding across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast that may cause impossible travel conditions and power outages. Blizzard conditions are possible along coastal areas from the DelMarVa Peninsula through southeastern New England. Increased breezes, especially mid-week and into Friday next week are forecast. Northerly wind gusts of 25 mph are forecast, with high chances that gusts could exceed 40 mph, especially across areas of higher terrain and along the coast. Secure any loose outdoor articles. Be prepared for hazardous driving conditions for lightweight and high profile vehicles. Anticipate some fire spread in areas of dry vegetation/regions that have not seen as much rainfall this winter. Slight chance (15-25%) for light rain today in the North Bay. Light rain is likely (60% chance) in the North Bay tomorrow with wetting rains possible in the higher terrain. Drizzle will be possible for coastal and higher terrain locations south of the Golden Gate Bridge. Major impacts are not expected.
