Fire Weather Concerns in the Southern Plains and Southeast; Pacific System to Bring Unsettled Weather to the West Coast

Gusty winds and dry conditions will continue to bring elevated to critical fire weather conditions to the southern Plains and Southeast early this week. A Pacific storm system will bring low elevation rain and heavy high elevation mountain snow to northern and central California through early week, expanding into the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin, and southern California on Tuesday. High temperatures throughout Northern and Central Nevada this afternoon will be seven to nine degrees warmer than yesterday afternoon. Maximum temperatures across Northern and Central Nevada Friday afternoon will be two to four degrees above normal for this time of year.
A storm system will impact Northern and Central Nevada Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening, resulting in periods of valley rain and mountain snow. Snow levels will start at around 7,000 feet Saturday afternoon, before dropping to about 6,000 feet Saturday night. The majority of this precipitation will remain over Central Nevada.
