Warming temperature trend caused by a ridge of high pressure over Nevada will warm temperatures above normal with chances of seeing record ties or record breaking temperatures into the next week. Here are the probabilities of temperatures exceeding 80 degrees for our five climate sites.
April 2026 Climate Summary. Northeastern and central Nevada was mostly Cooler, wetter than normal for central NV, but drier for northern NV, and mostly less snowy than normal (except for Ely)! (Averages and departures derived from the 1991-2020 climatological normal data base period.) Elko: April 2026 was cooler than normal with an average temperature of 45.4 degrees, which was 0.2 degrees below normal. Elko received 0.52” of rain and 0.8” of snowfall in April, which was below average for rainfall and snowfall. The averages for rain and snow in April are 1.05” and 3.3” respectively. The period of record for the Elko area began in 1888. Ely: April 2026 was cooler than normal with an average temperature of 42.7 degrees, which was 0.5 degrees below normal. Ely received 1.45” of rain and 8.0” of snowfall in April, which was above average for rainfall and snowfall. The averages for rain and snow in April are 1.07” and 5.3” respectively. The period of record for the Ely area began in 1893. Eureka: April 2026 was cooler than normal with an average temperature of 43.1 degrees, which was 0.4 degrees below normal. Eureka received 1.14” of rainfall in April, which was above average. The average rainfall for April is 1.08”. The period of record for the Eureka airport began in 1997. Tonopah: April 2026 was cooler than normal with an average temperature of 49.4 degrees which was 0.5 degrees below normal. Tonopah received 1.00” of rainfall in April, which was above average, making April 2026 the 5th wettest on record. The average rainfall for April is 0.29”. The period of record for the Tonopah area began in 1954. Winnemucca: April 2026 was cooler than normal with an average temperature of 47.6 degrees, which was 0.2 degrees below normal. Winnemucca received 0.87” of rain and a trace of snowfall in April, which were below average for rainfall and snowfall. The averages for rain and snow in April are 1.00” and 1.8” respectively. The period of record for the Winnemucca area began in 1877.
