Isolated thunderstorms are expected in most of Northern and Central Nevada from 12 PM PDT this afternoon until 8 PM PDT this evening. A few of these thunderstorms could be strong. The primary thunderstorm hazards will be wind gusts near 50 mph and dangerous cloud to ground lightning strikes.
A storm system will impact most of Northern and Central Nevada today through Saturday evening, resulting in a chance of valley rain and mountain snow. Snow levels will start at around 7,000 feet this morning, before rising to about 9,000 feet this afternoon. The majority of this precipitation will fall this afternoon and this evening.
