Back-to-back powerful Pacific storm systems to impact the Pacific Northwest and northern California through the end of this week with heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and higher elevation mountain snow. A strong, long-duration atmospheric river will accompany the Pacific storms, bringing excessive rainfall and flash flooding to southwest Oregon and northwest California through the week. Read More >
Multiple severe thunderstorms produced tornadoes, large hail, high winds, and flash flooding across most of western, central, and southern Oklahoma and western north Texas during the afternoon and evening hours of May 16th, 2015.
Storm survey teams surveyed damage from two of the tornadoes that occurred on Sunday, May 17, 2015.
Based on the damage that was found, one tornado was rated as EF-3 as it moved along a 35-mile path from southwest of Elmer to east of Snyder in southwestern Oklahoma and briefly moving across western north Texas near the Red River. This tornado persisted for over one hour.
A second tornado was rated EF1 along a 12-mile path from northwest of Fairview to north of Cleo Springs in Major County in northwestern Oklahoma.
This is preliminary information and details and mapping may be revised with additional information. Investigation and analysis will continue with these tornadoes as well as other confirmed tornadoes that occurred in Elk City, near Meers, south of Anadarko, and near Geronimo.
