A period of snow showers will continue until Friday morning. Several inches of snow accumulation in the highest peaks of the mountains and Virginia ridges will be possible, with mountain peaks having the best odds to see 6 inches. Valley snow likely to be light in northeastern portions of Tennessee, a couple inches in the lower elevations of southwest Virginia. A light dusting of snow up to an inch is also possible on the central and northern portions of the Plateau and southwest NC.

Today will be cold and breezy, with snow showers likely across northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia. Accumulating snow is expected mainly in the higher elevations through tonight. The rest of the weekend will be dry with a warming trend.
