Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Tennessee...Southwest
Virginia...and Extreme Southwest North Carolina
National Weather Service Morristown TN
240 AM EDT Wed May 20 2026
.DISCUSSION...
A wet and unsettled weather pattern will develop on Wednesday and
continue through the weekend. Occasional showers and afternoon
thunderstorms are anticipated each day, especially during the
afternoon and early evening hours. Lightning, small hail, and
gusty winds can be expected during any thunderstorm. Rainfall
amounts will be wide ranging, depending on "winners and losers" in
the daily random storm chances. Mountains will serve as a focus
for storm development.
