Fire Weather Concerns in the Southern Plains and Southeast; Pacific System to Bring Unsettled Weather to the West Coast

Gusty winds and dry conditions will continue to bring elevated to critical fire weather conditions to the southern Plains and Southeast early this week. A Pacific storm system will bring low elevation rain and heavy high elevation mountain snow to northern and central California through early week, expanding into the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin, and southern California on Tuesday. ...INCREASED FIRE DANGER IN SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA FROM 11 AM
EDT TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

With good mixing this afternoon, relative humidity values will get
down into the 20s. Northwesterly winds will gust around 20
mph or higher at times mainly in the East Tennessee and North Carolina
mountains. Fire danger will be elevated this afternoon and early evening
in Southwest North Carolina where fuels are still dry.

Drier weather and a warming trend expected through much of the week.
Rain and storm chances return to the area Friday night and into
the weekend.
