Take caution if you will be driving early this morning, as clearing behind the front has formed patches of dense fog across the forecast area. Give yourself extra time to reach your destination, use low-beam headlights, and leave plenty of space between yourself and the vehicle in front of you.
A cold front will usher showers out of the region by daybreak, leaving dry conditions in place across the area for today. However another, stronger front, will swing through late tonight and into Sunday for scattered rain chances again. This front will usher in much colder air to the southern Appalachians, along with chances for light snow accumulations in the mountains and even snow to the valley floor north of the Knoxville area Sunday night into Monday morning. Hard freezes are likely Monday and Tuesday mornings, along with temperatures near 20 degrees below normal during the day Monday.
