A tornado was observed at 6:00 pm CST about 1 mile east-southeast of Francis, OK and or about 1 mile southwest of the Cedar Grove Community in northern Pontotoc County. As it moved northeastward for about 39 miles, a total of $2.5 million in damages occurred in or near the towns of Francis, Sasakwa, Spaulding, Holdenville, Yeager, Wetumka, and Weleetka.

This violent tornado touched down just north of Harden City, OK in Pontotoc County and moved northeastward to one mile west of Stonewall, OK before dissipating 3 miles north of Stonewall.  Three farmsteads were leveled along the 6-mile path, with 7 people killed and other people injured on these farms. Cars, trucks, and machinery at the farms hit were also completely destroyed.

The tornado also hit a small, cement block café near Stonewall, completely destroying it and injuring several people.  Miraculously, nine people survived by taking refuge behind the counter in the café. In addition, 6 cars and a truck parked at the café were almost all a total loss.

Over 20 oil derricks in an oil field north of Harden City were destroyed.  Many cattle were killed as well.  Trees were stripped to stumps and the ground was swept clean.  Two funnels aloft had also traveled with the tornado.  One was believed to have joined the main tornado funnel over the café, and a loud blast was noted by patrons who took shelter in the café.

A tornado moved northeastward through the Oil Center community located 12 miles northwest of Ada. Five people of one family were injured when their house was destroyed. Three homes were destroyed and 12 received major damage. Several barns were destroyed in the area. An Oklahoma State Highway Patrol trooper described the tornado as a big, wedge-shaped funnel with a funnel aloft that looked like a snake's tail. The tornado moved northeastward into Seminole County northwest of Byng and dissipated about 5 miles northwest of Sasakwa.

A parent supercell thunderstorm produced a series of tornadoes from Stratford to Konawa to Wewoka through areas in Okfuskee and Okmulgee counties. The first tornado hit Stratford where considerable damage occurred to 50 homes and several businesses. One person was injured by flying debris in Stratford.

The next report of a tornado occurred in Seminole County at Konawa where the tornado moved northeastward and cut a 3-blick-wide path of destruction through across the city and through the main business district. About 150 homes and 40 businesses were destroyed or damaged. Seven people were injured in Konawa.

The same tornado or possibly a new tornado skipped and only produced spotty damage until it reached Wewoka where about 75 houses were damaged in a path the was 2.5 blocks wide and 11 blocks long. Several farmstead were damaged and two people were injured when their car was picked up off OK State Highway 9 about 6 miles west of Wetumka.

More tornadic damage was evident as several farmsteads, homes, and utility lines were damaged southeast of Pharoah in Okfuskee County and northwest of Henryetta in Okmulgee County, where 1 injury was reported. The last tornado in the series lifted south of Schulter in Okmulgee County.

Two thunderstorms joined one mile west of Ada at 4:48 pm CST and moved to 2.5 miles north of Ada by 5:15 pm CST where one of 2 funnels aloft dropped to the ground about 1.5 miles south of the Byng community school. This tornado lifted a home completely off its foundation and tossed it back to the ground in a mass of wrecked debris, injuring the 2 occupants inside. The tornado continued northeastward, knocking down trees and unroofing a building before it dissipated 1 mile east-northeast of Byng.

A supercell thunderstorm produced a tornado that struck the west side of Ada just after midnight on April 20th. A mobile home park on the western outskirts of Ada was hit and nearly 15 mobile homes were destroyed. Many homes and outbuildings were also destroyed or damaged. The tornado moved northeastward along a an 8-mile path, and also downed utility lines and 150 utility poles. Extensive damage occurred to hangars and airplanes at the Ada Municipal Airport which is located just north side Ada. Twenty-one people were injured with 5 of the injured requiring hospitalization. One oddity produced by the tornadic winds was a phonograph record embedded in a utility pole. The tornado dissipated about 8 miles north-northeast of Ada.

A tornado struck the city of Ada, OK in Pontotoc County, but most of the damage was confined to one mobile home park. However, one man was killed and 36 people were injured at the mobile home park. There were 51 trailers completely destroyed and another 17 received extensive damage. One business had major damage and while several others had minor damage. The total damage was estimated near $2 million.

Thunderstorms developed first over eastern Oklahoma and then quickly spread to the southern and southwestern parts of the state. Eleven tornadoes were documented along with many reports of large hail and strong winds. An F3 tornado, the strongest of the day, tore through parts of Ada. It first touched down 6.5 miles west of Ada and moved east-northeasterly through the north side of Ada and then to 4 miles north-northeast of Ada where it dissipated. Two people were slightly injured. A second, weaker tornado (rated F1) also hit Ada at the same time, carving a path from 2 miles southwest of Ada through the southern portion of Ada to 1 mile east of Ada. Total damages from the 2 tornadoes were estimated at $950,000, and 6 homes were destroyed while 131 homes received light to moderate structural damage. Three mobile homes were also destroyed, and 7 mobile homes were damaged. Structural damage occurred to 5 businesses and 1 apartment building.
