Areas of Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall Today

Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts and some hail are expected this afternoon and evening from the Upper Ohio River Valley into the Northeast, and from the Appalachians into the Mid-Atlantic States. TVA Lake Basins Rainfall Information

This page provides information showing the rainfall distribution across the watershed basins of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) lakes. This is to demonstrate the relationship between local rainfall and rainfall averages over an entire lake watershed. Although some locations may experience an inch or greater of rainfall with a particular weather event, the basin average across the entire watershed may be significantly less due to the isolated nature of the rainfall. Thus, the actual amount of water actually feeding into the lake is relatively low.
