Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Snow and Ice Visit North Georgia
February 17, 2007
The weather map on the morning of Feb 17, 2007 shows a cold front that plowed into North Georgia later in the day, causing temperatures to take a tumble. By nightfall, temperatures in the extreme north were below freezing. A weak upper level low pressure system accompanied the front. The result was several hours of light snow. In the higher terrain of extreme North Georgia amounts up to 2 inches were reported.
