...HIGH FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FOR
PARTS OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA DUE TO LOW RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES...

A Fire Danger Statement is in effect Thursday afternoon and
evening for parts of north and central Georgia. Very dry
vegetation and low relative humidity will support high fire
danger conditions.

Relative humidity is forecast to bottom out between 25% and 30%
across much of north and central Georgia on Thursday. 20-foot
winds will be out of the southwest to west-southwest at 5-10 mph.
Wind gusts may approach 20 mph in the higher terrain of north
Georgia (including parts of the north Georgia fire districts).
Mixing heights should top out between around 6000 feet and
7500 feet. There is a 15% to 25% chance for light rain showers
and storms across far north Georgia (including parts of the north
Georgia fire districts) on Thursday evening/night, but wetting
rainfall is unlikely at this time.

Relative humidity is currently forecast to nudge up slightly
overall on Friday, with potentially less of the area experiencing
values below 30% and thus potentially less of the area requiring
a Fire Danger Statement. 20-foot winds will be out of the west
around 3-8 mph. Mixing heights are currently forecast to peak
between 7000 feet and 9000 feet.

Note: Due to ongoing drought and lack of rainfall, critical fire
weather conditions will be reached at relative humidity of 30% or
less.
