.DISCUSSION...

No hazardous fire weather concerns are expected at this time.
Relative humidity values and winds will remain outside of
critical thresholds.

Wet and humid conditions will persist across the area today, with
patchy fog and low clouds expected to start the morning. As a
frontal boundary approaches far north Georgia, scattered showers
and thunderstorms along and north of I-85 this morning will
become widespread this afternoon. Areas south of I-85 will also
see scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon. Organized
severe weather is not expected, though a few storms may become
strong and capable of producing frequent lightning and gusty
winds. Stronger storms will also be capable of producing heavy
rain, which could lead to localized flooding concerns in the
northern part of the state. Minimum RH values today will largely
range from 60-75 percent. Winds this morning will be S at
3-5 mph, becoming SW in the afternoon at 5-10 mph.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms will linger into the overnight
hours, largely coming to an end by Sunday morning. In the absence
of a surface forcing mechanism, a return to scattered afternoon
thunderstorms is expected under partly cloudy skies. Minimum RH
values on Sunday will range from 50-60 percent. Winds will be NW
at 4-8 mph. Mixing heights on Sunday will peak between
4000-5000 ft in the mid-afternoon on Sunday.
