Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central Georgia
National Weather Service Peachtree City GA
226 PM EDT Fri Mar 27 2026

...RED FLAG WARNING FROM 8 AM TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY FOR PORTIONS
OF CENTRAL, EAST CENTRAL, NORTH CENTRAL, NORTHEAST, NORTHWEST,
SOUTHEAST AND WEST CENTRAL GEORGIA...

.DISCUSSION...

The chance for Critical Fire Weather concerns remain low today. A
Red Flag Warning is in effect for tomorrow for critical Fire
Weather conditions including relative humidities in the teens and
wind gusts approaching 30 mph.

Temperatures today will climb into the mid to upper 80s across
all of the fire zones, with minimum RH dropping into the mid to
low 30s. Winds out of the west at 8-12 mph could gust as high as
25 mph this afternoon. A few peaks and ridgetops across northern
Georgia could see gusts as high as 30 mph out ahead of an
approaching cold front. Given the warm conditions and plenty of
sun, mixing heights will rise to 6k+ feet today, and any
dispersion problems from this morning should be resolved.

The front will pass through during the overnight hours. A few
zones along the GA/TN border could see some showers but given the
approaching dry airmass it`s probable that precip won`t make it
to the ground before evaporating.

Tomorrow will see dangerous fire weather conditions evolve across
all fire zones in the CWA. Relative humidities are expected to
fall into the low teens with wind gusts up to 30 mph. Significant
drought conditions across the state are expected to make the
situation that much more dangerous. Any fire that does form could
grow quickly out of control. For more information, please see the
Fire Weather Discussion in the AFD.
