...HIGH FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING FOR
PARTS OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA DUE TO LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES
AND DRY VEGETATION...

Dry and warm conditions will continue through the day on
Saturday. A cold front will bring the chance for some wetting
rainfall, highest in the northern districts, between Saturday
Night and Sunday. Unfortunately, low amounts (up to a quarter of
an inch at most), will do little to elevate dry
vegetation/conditions.

Currently, relative humidity (RH) ranges from 30 to 45%, the
lowest values across much of east Georgia. Minimum values could
be as low as 23-25% this afternoon across northeast Georgia.
Fuels got down to 6-7% yesterday and similar trends are expected
for today. 20ft winds will remain out of the WNW/NW 4-7 MPH
diminishing to less than 4 MPH after 7 PM. Transport winds will
favor similar directions this afternoon speeds this afternoon
ranging from 5-12 MPH (highest in East Georgia). A Fire Danger
Statement remains in effect through 7 PM.

On Saturday, 20ft winds will be from the SW 5-10 MPH. Transport
winds will favor a similar direction for Saturday ranging from
10-20 MPH (highest in the northern districts). Minimum RH is
forecast to range from 25-35%. Another Fire Danger Statement will
be needed due to low RH (< 30%) but wind speeds while slightly
increased from today do not necessarily overlap with the lowest
RH values. However, we will be keeping a close eye on trends
because if winds do come up and overlap with critical RH values a
Red Flag Warning may be warranted for Saturday.
