Wintry Scenes in Portions of North Georgia
February 12, 2006
The low pressure system that dumped over a foot of snow up the east coast on Sunday February 12, 2006 was growing in strength as it passed through Georgia on Saturday, February 11. The air was initially too warm for snow in Georgia, but cold air eventually push south into the state. As the storm was exiting the region, portions of North Georgia picked up an inch or two - especially in the northeast mountains from north of Helen and Dahlonega to the North Carolina border. Other areas of North Georgia also had minor accumulations.
