Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, which is in effect from 9 PM EST this evening to 10 AM EDT Sunday. * LOCATIONS...Far north Georgia, generally north of a line from LaFayette to Dawsonville and Cleveland. * HAZARD TYPES...Snow. * ACCUMULATIONS...Generally an inch or less, with an inch or more possible at higher elevations. * TIMING...Snow may begin mixing with rain as early as mid-evening across the higher elevations, moving to lower elevations after midnight. Precipitation will be ending by early to mid-morning. * IMPACTS...With temperatures hovering around freezing across the advisory area, spotty areas of slick roads are expected by late this evening through early Sunday morning. * WINDS...Northerly winds 5-15 MPH. * TEMPERATURES...Falling into the mid to upper 30s during the evening and into the lower 30s after midnight.
