Women in STEM Open House - March 18th

NWS Atlanta Will Host a Women in STEM Open House on March 18, 2023!

Women make up nearly half of our country's workforce, but only about 25 percent are employed in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. In the National Weather Service, the numbers are even lower, with women only comprising about 19 percent of NWS meteorologists.

On Saturday, March 18, 2023, NWS Atlanta will host an open house which aims to encourage young women to explore careers in STEM fields, which are some of the highest-paying career fields in the job market today. This event also coincides with Women’s History Month. Despite this event being geared towards K-12, all are welcome!

The event will feature hands-on weather and water experiments, meeting women from different backgrounds of meteorology, guided office tours, a weather balloon demonstration and much more!!

There will also be the opportunity to meet and take pictures with Owlie Skywarn!
