Flash flooding washed out a road and led to closures of numerous other roads across west-central Georgia. In addition, several rivers south of the Atlanta metro area rose to minor flood stage. Across north Georgia, rainfall totals averaged 2-3 inches during this event. February 17th, 2022 Severe Storms: A Wind Advisory was issued ahead of a line of thunderstorms with strong non-convective winds resulting in numerous trees down around the Rome area. The Rome ASOS reported a wind gust of 62 mph ahead of the line of storms. Despite the storms containing very little lightning, eight Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for severe winds across parts of northwest Georgia." Recorded Wind Speeds Wind Damage Reports Based on the Climate Prediction Center's outlook for March, all of north and central Georgia has a 50% to 60% chance of above normal temperatures. For precipitation, all of northwestern Georgia has a 33% to 40% chance of above normal precipitation. Northeast and central Georgia has an equal chance for above, below, or near normal precipitation. And finally, southern Georgia has a 33% to 40% chance of below normal precipitation.
