Tracking Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Southern U.S.; Winter Storm to Impact the Northern U.S.

A storm system will shift from eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley Monday with additional threats of severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall which may bring flooding. Cold, cloudy, and breezy conditions will continue today with highs only in the 40s. Winds will decrease tonight as the winds turn to the east. Lows tonight will drop to the low/mid 30s in North TX and mid/upper 30s across Central TX.
Light rain will spread across the region on Monday with scattered showers across the east. The potential for freezing precipitation along the Red River remains low with no impacts expected. The coldest temperatures will arrive Monday night with lows in the 20s to low 30s. Make sure to bundle up for the morning commute.
A cold start to the week will be followed by a warm-up on Wednesday. A strong cold front late Wednesday will cool things down again with rain chances coming back to the region thru late week. Another warm-up is expected next weekend.
