Summer heat will remain the main story on Saturday, with peak heat index values between 101 and 105 degrees. Most locations will stay dry, but isolated afternoon storms may develop across parts of Central Texas which will continue into the evening, along with isolated storm chances tonight across the northeast. Any storms that form could produce gusty winds and frequent lightning.
Rain and storm chances will increase tomorrow (Sunday) and continue into early next week. The main concern will be isolated flooding where storms move slowly or repeatedly affect the same areas, especially Sunday night and Monday when the highest coverage of storms is expected. A few stronger storms may also produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, and small hail. If you have outdoor plans, stay weather aware and be ready to adjust if storms develop nearby.
Rain and thunderstorm chances will continue into next week, with the highest coverage expected Tuesday, especially across Central Texas. Locally heavy rainfall may lead to isolated flooding, with a secondary threat for strong storms containing small hail and gusty winds. Forecast details will continue to be refined through the weekend, so check back for updates.
