Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. Storm chances will increase later today and continue through the weekend as a low pressure center develops overhead. The best rain chances will be across North Texas. Heavy rain may lead to localized flooding in some storms. Rain chances will decrease from south to north on Monday.
A Flood Watch is in effect for western portions of North and Central Texas this afternoon until 7 PM Sunday. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches, with isolated higher amounts of 4+ inches may occur in the Watch area. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
