It's time for our weekly Drought Monitor update. Moderate to extreme drought remains in place across the region. Drought is likely to persist over the coming months. For more, visit: https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/
For today, rain will end in the southeastern counties through the late morning. Clouds will decrease across the northwest. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
For tonight, skies will range from clear in the northwest to mostly cloudy in the east and southeast. Lows will be in the lower 40s northwest to lower 50s southeast.
For Saturday we can expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower to mid 70s.
The DOD weather radar located between Auburn and Montgomery, Alabama (KMXX) will be offline for scheduled maintenance. This work cannot be delayed. Outage duration is Thursday, February 26, 2026 to Friday, February 27, 2026. A line of showers and a few thunderstorms is forecast to arrive to the Interstate 85 region sometime late Thursday. Surrounding weather radars are available to National Weather Service meteorologists for tracking and analysis.
