A Wind Advisory is in effect today where wind gusts are most likely to reach 40 mph. Strong northwest winds will develop this morning behind a cold front. Winds of this strength will blow around loose objects, can cause spotty power outages, and will add difficulty to driving a high-profile vehicle.
Northwest winds will rapidly increase this morning. Gales are expected over the waters west of Apalachicola, with near-gale winds east of Apalachicola. Small craft should remain in port through Monday.
A very dry airmass and gusty winds today will set up a combination of critically low relative humidity, strong winds, and dry fuels from the ongoing drought. Delay your outdoor burning for another day.
There is a high risk of rip currents for all Gulf beaches through tonight. Heed the recommendation of beach flags. When in doubt, stay out of the water.
Afternoon temperatures today will hold steady or fall, following a strong cold front early this morning. Much below normal temperatures are expected Monday and Tuesday, with Tuesday morning featuring widespread freeze and frost. Temperatures will rebound on Wednesday.
