Heat indices from 95-102° over the next couple of days will promote a moderate risk of heat-related impacts across portions of Central Alabama. This level of heat affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts possible in some health systems and in heat-sensitive industries.
Look for partly cloudy skies today with a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Daytime high temperatures will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s with heat indices near 100 degrees.
Low temps tonight will fall into the low to mid 70s under partly cloudy skies. A slight chance for showers and thunderstorms lingers overnight into Saturday morning.
Our unsettled pattern continues on Saturday with another round of showers and thunderstorms likely. A few storms may be strong to severe. Otherwise, highs settle into the upper 80s to low 90s with heat indices around 100 degrees.
