A High Wind Warning is in effect from 10 AM CDT/9 AM MDT Tuesday morning until 11 PM CDT/10 PM MDT Tuesday evening for the Guadalupe Mountains of west Texas and southeast New Mexico, including Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Strong winds will make travel difficult, especially for high profile vehicles and severe turbulence is possible near mountains! A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Eddy County Plains in New Mexico from Noon today until 7 PM MDT this evening.

A Rangeland Fire Danger Statement has been issued for southeast New Mexico, the Guadalupe/Delaware Mountains, and eastern Culberson County Plains in west Texas through 8 PM CDT/7 PM MDT Tuesday evening as elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions are expected. This is due to increased winds, low relative humidity values between 10 to 15 percent, and dry fuels. Gusty/erratic winds and lighting starts are possible with thunderstorms. Be sure to take the necessary precautions to avoid a spark!
