Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Severe Storms Produce Tornadoes in

Copiah County and Madison County

 

Numerous severe storms developed over the ArkLaMiss region during the period from Wednesday afternoon, January 20th through the early morning hours of Thursday, January 21st.  A weak tornado, which was rated as an EF0, touched down near the Pocahontas community of Madison county Wednesday evening. A stronger tornado, rated as an EF2, touched down near Hazlehurst in Copiah county just after midnight  Thursday morning. Reports of severe weather, including damging wind, large hail and flooding, were widespread across the region.
