Locally Heavy Rainfall for the Carolinas; Thunderstorms and Fire Weather Concerns for Intermountain West

Heavy rainfall from scattered thunderstorms is expected across the Southwest, Intermountain West, and Plains. Isolated dry thunderstorms may initiate additional fires across the west. The coastal Carolinas may experience flash floods in the coming days due to repeated thunderstorms. A Wind Advisory has been issued beginning 7 AM CDT Thursday and continuing through 7 AM CDT Friday for all of northern AL and southern middle TN due to wind gusts near 35-40 mph. Impacts include downed trees and powerlines which could lead to power outages as well as hazardous travel, especially for high profile vehicles. Be sure to secure loose, outdoor items and watch for cross winds while traveling.
Flood Watch for Flash Flooding in effect now through 7am Saturday. For all of N AL and Southern Middle TN for 2-5" of rainfall. Francine rainbands could produce locally higher amounts of 7-10". Remember, Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Hurricane Francine continues its trek north and east towards the Tennessee Valley. Impacts arrive locally on Thu and Fri with hazards including gusty winds (30-40mph), heavy rainfall (highest amounts along/west of I-65) that could lead to flash flooding, and one or two tornadoes. Be sure to check back in for updates and have multiple ways to get warnings.
