Last Map Update: Thu, Mar 12, 2026 at 1:17:42 am EDT

A passing disturbance early Thursday morning will bring a line of strong to severe storms across portions of the area. These storms will likely be strongest across southern Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle with the line forecast to slowly lose strength with eastern extent by the time it arrives to south-central Georgia and the Florida Big Bend. The main concerns with this line will be damaging wind gusts (50 to 60 mph) within the more organized segments of the line. Additionally, a few tornadoes remain possible, with the greatest tornado risks focused across southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. We do not have more specific timing estimates at this time, but generally the line will enter extreme southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle around 2am CT to 5am CT, cross the Apalachicola/Flint-Rivers around 4am CT/5am ET to 7am CT/8am ET, and move into the southeast Florida Big Bend around 10am ET to 1pm ET.
Near record highs are forecast again Wednesday. A cold front swings through Thursday and cools us down closer to normal to end the work week. Another, stronger, cold front arrives early next week.
