Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Newton County Tornado

Event Summary

This tornado started just to the south of Newton on Highway 15 near the South Main intersection. There was major tree damage here, and amazingly, the north end of the concrete bridge was lifted up, causing damage to the concrete sides, guard rails, and asphalt. The tornado then traveled east- northeast with more damage to trees and several homes. One mobile home and two wood frame houses were destroyed on Corinth Road. It then continued east-northeast crossing Highway 80, severely damaging the roofs of two homes and also destroying a travel trailer. It proceeded east-northeast and dissipated just south of   I-20.
