Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Summary of Damages: Intense downburst winds associated with a large bowing line of severe thunderstorms impacted much of the city of Meadville around 10:13am on May 3, 2009.. Dozens of large trees, both hardwood and softwood, were snapped and uprooted along with hundreds of limbs. Trees fell on a number of homes and outbuildings, causing major damage. Many powerlines and poles were snapped by the winds or trees/limbs falling on them. At least a couple of homes and several outbuildings lost shingles or parts of their roofs. Maximum estimated winds were 90mph.
