Storm Damage from Easter 3/27/05
A very strong left-deviating severe thunderstorm moved from southwestern Hinds County northward across Yazoo County during the late afternoon hours on Easter Sunday. There were winds reported up to 80 mph in Yazoo County and hail up to the size of tennis balls creating a swath of wind blown hail across the Bentonia to Little Yazoo area. Even though the overall circulation with this severe thunderstorm was rotating clockwise, a small counterclockwise circulation(gustnado) developed near Little Yazoo producing F1 tornado damage when an anchored Mobile Home was lifted off the ground and smashed into the ground. Fortunately, nobody was home at the time. The pictures below show some of the numerous trees blown down and also resulting hail damage along Highway 49 near Bentonia.
