Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Jefferson County Tornado

THIS TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN 8 MILES W OF FAYETTE NEAR THE NATCHEZ TRACE AND STARTED TO DOWN A FEW TREES. THE TORNADO INTENSIFIED AS IT APPROACHED AND CROSSED US HIGHWAY 61. AT THIS POINT THE TORNADO WAS 600 YARDS WIDE. FOUR HOMES WERE DAMAGED WITH ONE LARGE HOME HAVING MOST OF ITS ROOF BLOWN OFF. ONE STEEL FRAMED COMBINE HANGER WAS TORN FROM ITS CONCRETE FOOTING. THE FOREST BETWEEN US HIGHWAY 61 AND HIGHWAY 552 WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. EVERY TREE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. PATH LENGTH WAS 18 MILES.
