...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1871, the first official weather observation in Denver was 
taken by Henry Fenton, Observer Sergeant of the United States 
Army Signal Service at 543 AM on this date. His observation noted 
that snow fell heavily during the night. Wind during the snow storm 
was gentle and a little west of south. Very cold weather prevailed 
all day and night.
