Personal Stories from Concordia

Charles Blosser, Concordia airplane pilot and the man for whom the Concordia airport is named for, was honored by the local Chamber of Commerce for his heroic efforts during the Flood of 1935. Mr. Blosser flew over flooded areas, warning residents with a hand cranked siren. He pinpointed people who needed assistance for rescue crews, and flew people back and forth across the swollen river. He was credited with saving over 28 people who were rescued due to his efforts. After the flood he was instrumental in working with Frank Carlson, Senator for Kansas at the time, to bring flood control to the area.
