A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. LaFayette WI (Monroe County) tornado - F0
On Friday, September 7, 2001, a line of thunderstorms moved into western Monroe County and produced a small tornado touchdown between Cataract and Sparta, WI. The tornado, rated F-0 on the Fujita Scale, tracked through a grove of trees about 3 miles southeast of Cataract and hit a mobile home along County Road Q.
The mobile home was demolished, injuring a woman who was inside at the time the storm struck. The mobile home was not tied down and sitting on blocks. Debris was thrown into nearby trees and down wind at least a quarter-mile. Time of the tornado was approx. 630 pm.
Damage from thunderstorms was also reported in the La Crosse, WI area and on the northwest side of Necedah, WI (Juneau County).
