Lingering Winter Weather in Interior New England; Snow Squalls Developing Downwind of the Lower Great Lakes

A wintry mix will continue in interior New England through tonight as a coastal storm quickly passes to the east. Heavy snow is expected in northern Maine, with a coating of ice expected for much of interior New England. Snow showers will move through the region today and continue into early Saturday morning with additional accumulations of up to 2" possible. Snow showers combined with gusty northwest winds today may result in localized visibility reductions. If you are travelling over the next couple of days, be sure to keep an eye on the forecast!
Periods of light snow will move through the region this afternoon through Saturday bringing accumulations across much of the area. A cold front will move through the area today ushering in colder air for the weekend with highs falling into the teens and single digits. Morning wind chills this weekend and into early next week will be in the negative teens and 20s with Monday morning being the coldest morning.
Very cold wind chills are expected during the overnight and morning hours this weekend and early next week with wind chills in the teens and 20s below zero. The coldest morning will likely be Monday morning with wind chills between 20 to 30 degrees below zero. Be sure to dress in layers when heading outdoors during this period!
