Lingering Winter Weather in Interior New England; Snow Squalls Developing Downwind of the Lower Great Lakes

A wintry mix will continue in interior New England through tonight as a coastal storm quickly passes to the east. Heavy snow is expected in northern Maine, with a coating of ice expected for much of interior New England. It was a very warm 2024 for La Crosse and Rochester with both locations recording a top 3 record for yearly temperature. Interestingly, the warmth had little to do with any summer hot periods, rather it was very mild winter and fall conditions. Precipitation was a bit over 2" above normal at La Crosse and Rochester in 2024. Despite this, of more note was an over 30 day stretch of dry conditions that occurred in late September through mid October. For more details:
