A cold front will slowly move near parts of northeast Oklahoma Friday afternoon. Storm chances develop during the day with the greater potential Friday afternoon and evening. Storms could become strong to severe, with large hail and damaging winds the main threats.
The highest chance of severe weather occurs Friday afternoon and evening between 3 PM and 8 PM. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary hazards.
A low pressure system lifting into the Plains over the weekend will increase thunderstorm chances across eastern OK and northwest AR. A slight risk of severe weather exists west of Highway 75 in eastern OK and a marginal risk east to the Arkansas state line as the low pressure system moves over the region.
Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected Friday into Sunday for eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. A marginal risk of excessive rainfall that could lead to localized flood potential exists for parts of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas each day, with Sunday having the greater coverage potential. Additional rainfall is also forecast Monday into Wednesday of next which could continue the excessive rainfall threat.
A second area of low pressure is forecast to move into the region early to mid week. Both instability and ample amounts of moisture from the weekend look to remain over the region into next week. A slight chance of severe weather exists across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas each day. Details will continue to be updated through the several days.
Dry and mild weather through Thursday. Unsettled weather returns Friday into early next week.
