Frigid Airmass to Bring Significantly Colder Temperatures; Snow Continues Downwind of the Great Lakes

A frigid cold airmass will bring significantly colder weather across the eastern two thirds of the country early this week. Record low temperatures are expected in the Southeast by Tuesday morning. Showers and storms will increase in coverage across the region Wednesday with heavy rainfall totals developing. Additional heavy rains are expected Thursday through Thursday night which will further increase the flooding potential.
Warm conditions continue with near record high temperatures possible for some areas Monday and Tuesday. Rain and thunderstorm chances return Monday and increase through late next week. A heavy rain threat exists Wednesday and Thursday.
Above average temperatures and above average precipitation is favored next week for eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.
