Cold Front Moving Through the Northeast U.S. Monday; Atmospheric River to Impact the Pacific Northwest Midweek

A cold front will cross the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. through Monday with gusty winds and areas of rain showers. A strong atmospheric river is expected to move into the Pacific Northwest by midweek bringing a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and mountain snows for parts of Washington, Oregon, northern California, and the Sierra Nevada. Enjoy these above normal temperatures while you can. A strong cold front Saturday brings the coldest temperatures of the season so far, with a high chance of a hard freeze and a low to medium chance of a killing freeze to a few spots Monday morning. Keep checking those forecasts and make preparations to protect outdoor plants and pets.
Warm and windy conditions will spread over the region again on Thursday. Wind gusts near 30 mph will be common Thursday afternoon with temperatures topping out in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
Temperatures are expected to remain well above average into the early part of the weekend. An Arctic cold front is on track for the latter half of the weekend with much colder conditions into the beginning of next week.
