Unsettled Weather in the Eastern U.S. through Memorial Day

Showers and thunderstorms are expected from Texas to the Northeast through Tuesday. Heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding across the central Gulf Coast into the Appalachians. Scattered showers along with thunderstorm chances expand across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Tuesday with the greater potential during the afternoon and early evening hours. A heavy rain threat which could lead to localized flooding concerns is the main threat as organized severe weather is not expected. Limited thunder potential continues Tuesday night with another disturbance approaching the region.
Shower and thunderstorm chances continue Wednesday through Friday with an area of low pressure moving through the region. Heavy rainfall and localized flooding are the main threats, while an isolated severe potential exists.
Locally heavy rainfall will be possible daily this week, with additional rain chances over the weekend. Be aware of potential for flooding.
Rain and scattered thunderstorm chances increase again Monday and overspread the region Tuesday. Near daily thunderstorm chances are forecast mid through late week. Temperatures remain near mid May normals.
