Tropical Depression in the Gulf; Severe Thunderstorms Monday

Tropical Depression Two is expected to gradually strengthen and could bring tropical storm conditions to the Florida Panhandle beginning late Monday. Areas of flash flooding will be possible through Thursday along the eastern and central Gulf Coast. Forecast Summary

The greatest rain chances will be Friday evening into the overnight hours, mainly north of I-40. Isolated showers and storms could linger into Saturday. Dangerous lightning and gusty winds will accompany the strongest storms.

Dangerous heat returns by late this week into early next week areawide.

Above Normal Temperatures are favored into early August. Periods of dangerous heat indices are likely. Please remain mindful of the summer heat and take precautions to protect yourself and others from heat illness during prolonged heat waves.

The heat returns Friday and through this weekend. Low rain/storm chances develop for northern areas on Friday, spreading southward into Saturday.
