A few thunderstorms remain possible along the frontal boundary from around midday through the early afternoon today. Any storms that form along front will pose a severe risk, with damaging winds the main threat. Storms will race eastward with the front and push east of the area by mid to late afternoon.
South winds are expected to increase after midnight tonight ahead of a strong cold front, with gusts to 45 mph possible. Then, after the front passes, winds shift to the northwest with gusts to 55 mph expected. Winds will begin to subside some late Sunday night into Monday morning.
Widespread cold temperatures will spread in behind a cold front Sunday night into early next week. Low temperatures ranging from the upper teens to mid 20s will be common by Monday morning with wind chill values in the single digits and teens. Widespread freezing temps will continue into Tuesday morning as well. If you have begun planting sensitive vegetation, make plans to protect those plants today.
A warm and pleasant day is ongoing to start the weekend before a strong cold front brings a chance of storms on Sunday morning into the afternoon for some with elevated fire weather concerns behind the front thanks to strong northerly winds. Many locations will see freezing temperatures Monday and Tuesday morning.
