Super Typhoon Bavi to Impact Guam and the Mariana Islands; Excessive Rainfall and Flooding Threat in the Mid-Atlantic

Catastrophic Super Typhoon Bavi's eyewall has reached Rota and is expected to bring dangerous winds, heavy rainfall and storm surge to Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. Storm chances develop Monday afternoon through early evening across mainly southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas. A marginal severe risk exists with locally damaging winds the main threat. Storm coverage should begin to decrease after sunset with the loss of daytime heating.
Low storm chances continue Tuesday/Wednesday afternoons mainly across southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Additional storm chances expand across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas late week into the weekend with a disturbance moving through the Plains. Limited severe and heavy rain potentials exists late week.
Brief improvement in the hot and humid conditions is expected through Tuesday, but the heat will return in earnest after that. Be aware of signs of heat stress and take precautions with outdoor activities.
Low chances for showers and thunderstorms remain forecast for parts of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Sunday into Sunday night. Additional storm chances persist Monday, and again for the second half of the week. Also, a brief improvement in heat and humidity into Tuesday before heat index values climb late week.
