Super Typhoon Bavi to Impact Guam and the Mariana Islands; Excessive Rainfall and Flooding Threat in the Mid-Atlantic

Catastrophic Super Typhoon Bavi's eyewall has reached Rota and is expected to bring dangerous winds, heavy rainfall and storm surge to Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. Hot and humid conditions are expected once again Saturday across portions of eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. Heat index values as high as 109 degrees are expected during the afternoon. Continue to take heat safety precautions to prevent heat illness.
There is a slight risk for severe storms across portions of northeast Oklahoma and all of northwest Arkansas Saturday afternoon and evening and a marginal risk for most of the remainder of eastern Oklahoma. Pockets of damaging winds up to 70 mph is the main threat. Marginally severe hail is also possible.
A weak boundary will focus scattered showers and storms late this afternoon and into tonight. There is a slight risk of excessive rainfall from slow-moving and/or training storms, which could lead to flash flooding.
There is a marginal risk of severe storms Sunday afternoon across southeast Oklahoma. Locally severe wind gusts are the main threat.
Low chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms remain forecast for parts of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas through Friday. Additional storm chances develop this weekend. Hot conditions will persist through Saturday but cooler conditions are on the way for the early to middle part of next week.
