Increasing moisture will lead to a higher coverage of showers and thunderstorms mainly this afternoon and evening across portions of eastern Oklahoma. More isolated potential is forecast across far northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas. Organized severe weather is not expected, but some storms could produce gusty winds along with heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. Outdoor holiday activities should closely monitor the weather and seek shelter when lighting is near.
Shower and thunderstorm chances will be greatest in the morning and early afternoon on the 4th. Coverage will decrease late in the afternoon and evening but a few storms are expected to remain especially west of U.S. 75.
