Winter Returns Across the Northern Tier; Record Warmth for the Southwest

A large high pressure system will usher in cold air for this first day of March across the northern Plains, Great Lakes, Northeast and mid-Atlantic. Some wintry precipitation may evolve across the mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic through Monday. Derived Products

The images in the table below are derived products that have been generated from the GOES-12 and -10 imager and sounder data. They have become instrumental to the operational forecaster in assessing the pre-storm environment and filling voids in data fields such as the Gulf of America and Mexico. In addition, many of these products are now entered into the numerical models serving to produce more accurate forecasts.
