Thunderstorms are forecast to continue Saturday and into the overnight hours as a slow moving cold front remains across the region. A limited severe potential remains with the storms through the morning hours, while the main risk of severe weather will increase during the afternoon and continue into the overnight hours. An increasing risk of heavy rainfall and flooding will also accompany the storms through tonight.
Widespread and repeated rounds of rainfall will lead to increasing flash flood as well as river flooding concerns this evening through Sunday. Don't drive through flooded roadways.
A Flood Watch has been issued for much of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas from 7 PM Friday until 7 PM Sunday as an upper level storm system and associated cold front impact the region. Flash flooding and river flooding are probable through the upcoming weekend. Storm total amounts will vary, but in general, 2 to 6 inches of rain are expected, with locally high amounts up to 8 inches possible in the Flood Watch area.
Thunderstorm chances continue into Sunday before the cold front finally exits the region. The greater severe potential will be across far eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Sunday morning through the afternoon hours. Additional heavy rainfall is also forecast Sunday.
