A Heat Advisory will be in effect for portions of east Texas and deep east Texas from 7 AM to 8 PM today. Heat indices in excess of 105 degrees will be possible. Remember to exercise heat safety precautions if outdoors for any extended periods!
The proximity of Tropical Storm Bertha will induce northward moisture flow today, which together with a pseudostationary boundary will help generate scattered storms this afternoon across Louisiana. Accumulations will be isolated and limited. Cloud cover and rainfall will help make a minor dent in this week's heat.
Tropical Storm Bertha will continue to slowly move westward along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Very few, if any, impacts are expected in the Four State Region. Most of the effects of Bertha will be felt along and south of the coast.
The ArkLaTex will see warm but slightly less hot conditions today as cloud cover increases and highs climb into the middle 90s. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible across Louisiana and portions of deep east Texas and southern Arkansas this afternoon.
Here are today's climate records for selected sites across our Four-State area.
