The heat will be easing slowly southeast today, lingering over portions of northeast IA and southwest/central WI. Afternoon heat indices are expected to reach 100 for these locations, and a heat advisory remains in effect until early evening.

  • Timing: Peak heat impacts in the afternoon to early evening
  • Impacts: Heat related illnesses can occur in as little as 30 minutes. Children, pets and the elderly are especially susceptible to the heat - check on them!
  • ACTION: Avoid prolonged exposure to the heat - postpone or reschedule outdoor activities. Stay hydrated, find shade or air conditioning for breaks.
