Tracking Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Southern U.S.; Winter Storm to Impact the Northern U.S.

A storm system will shift from eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley Monday with additional threats of severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall which may bring flooding. A Flood Watch remains in effect. In the northern U.S., a storm will bring heavy snow and gusty winds over parts of the northern Rockies, northern Plains, and Upper Midwest Monday into Wednesday. The NOAA Weather Radio transmitter at Black River Falls, WI (WNG564) is broadcasting in a degraded state.

Due to a recent lightning strike and the move of the transmitter to a different nearby tower, the transmitter is not operating at full power.  The lower power output will lessen coverage area.

In coordination with other involved agencies, technicians continue to work on getting the site back up to 100% operations.

The Black River Falls NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts on Channel 5, or a frequency of 162.500 MHz, and serves Clark, Eau Claire, 
Jackson, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Wood Counties in Wisconsin.

Withee, broadcasting on Channel 2 or 162.425 MHz;
Coloma, broadcasting on Channel 1 or 162.400 MHz;
Wausau, broadcasting on Channel 4 or 162.475 MHz;
Winona, broadcasting on Channel 2 or 162.425 MHz;
La Crosse, broadcasting on Channel 7 or 162.550 MHz;
Tomah, broadcasting on Channel 6 or 162.525 MHz.
