Lingering Winter Weather in Interior New England; Snow Squalls Developing Downwind of the Lower Great Lakes

A wintry mix will continue in interior New England through tonight as a coastal storm quickly passes to the east. Heavy snow is expected in northern Maine, with a coating of ice expected for much of interior New England. The NOAA Weather Radio transmitter at Black River Falls, WI (WNG564) is broadcasting in a degraded state.

Due to a recent lightning strike and the move of the transmitter to a different nearby tower, the transmitter is not operating at full power.  The lower power output will lessen coverage area.

In coordination with other involved agencies, technicians continue to work on getting the site back up to 100% operations.

The Black River Falls NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts on Channel 5, or a frequency of 162.500 MHz, and serves Clark, Eau Claire, 
Jackson, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Wood Counties in Wisconsin.

Coloma, broadcasting on Channel 1 or 162.400 MHz;

Tomah, broadcasting on Channel 6 or 162.525 MHz.
