The weather radar operated by the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Gaylord Michigan will be down from Monday September 16th through Wednesday September 18th for dome maintenance.

During the outage, alternate radar coverage will be available from the adjacent sites at NWS Marquette, Green Bay, Grand Rapids and Detroit.

Maintaining a clean, structurally sound, and watertight dome enclosure is essential to WSR-88D daily operating efficiency and long-term reliability.   This work is part of a nationwide maintenance program managed by the NWS Radar Operations Center, a tri-agency office funded by the NOAA National Weather Service, the United States Air Force, and the Federal Aviation Administration to support the nationwide network of WSR-88D Doppler radar systems.
