Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. This article is from October 2018 and is no longer valid: The first accumulating snowfall for Anchorage and the Matanuska Valley is expected for the Monday work commute. The highest snow accumulations are anticipated for the upper Hillside and east Anchorage northward into Eagle River and Palmer with lesser accumulations as you head westward. Expect the heaviest snow rates during the mid morning through early afternoon before they rapidly taper off in the late afternoon and early evening. Be prepared for longer commute times.
