Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Warnings for the North Carolina Outer Banks; Heat Building in the West

Storm surge flooding and tropical storm conditions are expected in the Outer Banks beginning late Wednesday. Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Warnings are in effect. Tropical storm conditions are possible along the eastern shore of Virginia Thursday. Tampa Bay Weather History – Our Harrowing Past

The NOAA National Weather Service in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida in collaboration with the University of South Florida has chronicled our sordid weather history. Two frail leather bound U.S. Weather Service Bureau books dating back to 1890 have been scanned and rebound, and teamed with other records including old original weather maps, news articles, photographs of major past events, and major event summaries. All of these have been collected and are readily available through our NOAA Preserve America website.
