This is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in WisconsinThere will be a statewide tornado drill on Thursday, April 12th. This will be an ideal time to practice your plans at work and at home during a Tornado Warning. A Test Tornado Watch will be issued at 1pm, followed by a Test Tornado Warning at 1:45pm. These will both end at 2pm. Following this will be a second tornado drill in the evening with a Test Tornado Warning issued at 6:45pm, which will end at 7pm. Throughout the week, we will be discussing how you can stay safe in severe weather situations. It all starts with having a plan for what to do when severe weather occurs. Then, you need to have a way to receive severe weather forecasts and alerts. Once you get the alerts, the final and most important step is to take action and seek shelter. Where do you go when severe weather occurs? Here are some common, vulnerable situations. If you have any questions/comments, please contact Warning Coordination Meteorologist Tim Halbach at Timothy.J.Halbach@noaa.gov |
